ART DISPLAY: Juliette Swenson and Matalie Deane
May - July
Reception on May 23 4:30-6:30pm
Open for viewing 10-5pm Monday-Thursday
Juliette Swenson's love of art began in school and has continued from that early age. She took a degree in Fine Arts at University and started pursuing watercolors in 2016. She is attracted to painting animals and many people comment on the animals expressions and eyes which are fun to capture. She uses bright colors to show off the versatility of watercolor. You may notice her streak of whimsy that sometimes appears in purple ears or turquoise eye lashes on animals.
Commissions are taken on dogs.
Matalie Deane was five when she travelled through to a BS of Applied Art from James Madison University. Her major journey has been experiencing life. To add to the story, she has studied with a number of artists and has shared with several art groups. "I am constantly learning how to tell my visual story."
As a native of Charlottesville, she is inspired by Virginia’s natural environment. The interaction between nature and man has always interested her. Organic shapes such as flowers, animals, trees, sky, and water play against the inorganic structures of man. She predominantly uses watercolor, pastel, and acrylic paint to tell the story.
